Obama's Budget Cutting Challenge

Did you hear about Obama's plan to cut the budge by $100 million in the next three months. That sounds like a lot of money but let's put a little perspective around this stunt.

The 2010 budget proposal is $3,600,000,000,000. That is 3.6 trillion. Obama wants to cut .0028% of the budget. Wow a whole 3 one thousandths of a percent. This is just a ploy by the President to try to show he is trying to be fiscally responsible.

I heard on the radio Obama's press secretary complaining the people didn't think this was a very big cut, he said only in Washington is $100 million not a lot of money. This comes just weeks after saying that $8 billion of pork is a drop in the bucket and for criticizing John McCain during the campaign for railing against pork even though as a percent of the budget it isn't very big. Here is that exchange. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Here is an article from Yahoo! on it, and one from News Busters.
