Porkulus Jammed Down Our Throats

Well it happened, the left wing, aka Democrats, jammed a so called stimulus package down the throat of the American taxpayers in the last couple of days. This bill contained many pet projects of the liberals. The bill passed the House on Friday. I was listening to Glenn Beck that morning and he mentioned that the representatives got the bill at 7pm Thursday and had the vote at 9am the next morning. In order to read the bill they would have had to read over 600 words per minute. Mind you this is legalese.

On a local news report here, one of the representatives said that 90% of the calls to his office were against the stimulus package. This representative is in a very split district, he has won reelection by only a couple of percentage points the last two times. So why did the stimulus pass if the public is against it? The answer is that politicians don't care about what you think. You see they think they are smarter than the people and they know how to fix things. This is how socialist countries operate, the ones who have the power exercise it no matter what is good for the people.

The common rhetoric that comes from the liberal is that they are breaking away from the same old tired policies that lead to the economic mess. Really? Have they told the Fed to stop trying to fix the economy? That was one big cause that lead to the housing bubble. Has Barney Frank stopped passing legislation forcing banks to lend to those who couldn't afford it? Of course not. What did we get instead? Part of the bill calls for only purchasing American made products, or in other words, protectionism. I believe FDR tried this with his new deal, and how did that work out? During the 1930's unemployment remained above 15% for the entire decade.

Here we find the liberals trying to break from the policies that lead to the economic mess by going back to policies that were tried and failed during the 1930's. Not very smart.

Ronald Reagan took over a very poor economy in 1981. Instead of relying on government spending to fix the problem he cut the marginal tax rates. That set the stage for 20 years of growth. Was that a tired old policy?

I am proud of all but 3 conservatives. All Republican members of the House voted against the bill, while 3 Republican senators voted for it. I think these three people like to be powerful, and that is why they went along with it. They had the Democrats kissing their butts to get their votes.

During the campaign Barry called for us to rise above partisan politics. In his first major bill he and his liberal gang have gone further down the partisan road than we have been before. If only you had listened to me during the election.

Here is a website that goes much farther into the depth of pork in this bill.

I love the fact our great, great grandchildren will be so much in debt that they won't be able to leave their homes without a grant from the government. It's wonderful!

I did a little calculating... hope to see your thoughts. http://bugdrivel.blogspot.com/2009/02/is-your-life-worth-2497651200.html
